The objective of the Friends of Missing Child Center - Hawaii ("Friends") is to raise funds to promote the following four objectives: 1) Protect children from abduction. 2) Facilitate recovery. 3) Educate the public and professionals regarding issues of abduction/recovery. 4) Support the reunification of families following abduction. Originally, Friends funded both the staffing and the operation of the Missing Child Center Hawaii ("MCCH"). Currently, the State of Hawaii funds the staffing of the MCCH (Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator), and Friends funds certain programs run by MCCH or other agencies which promote our mission.

Formed in January of 1995, the "Friends" was originally called the Missing Child Center Hawaii Trust. Friends may support any agency or organization that will facilitate the efforts of federal, state, and county agencies to locate, recover and protect missing children; to develop education programs intended to prevent child abduction, enhance child safety, raise public awareness about ways to prevent child abduction, molestation, and sexual exploitation; support reunification of families after abduction.

The "MCCH" was originally established in January of 1995 to raise community awareness about the problem of child abduction, most often by non-custodial parents, and to provide training to law enforcement and social service agencies whose mission is to prevent child abduction and to help recover children who have been abducted. Since its inception the MCCH has provided a variety of training programs to the public and private sectors, and assisted in the recovery of more than 500 missing children.
